There is the heavenly world in the Dream Garden. The Dream Garden is located in front of the Tridevi Road at SAARC Building at Thamel in Kathmandu, the central capital of Nepal which is built in historical and classical style. Though the amazing thing is that this garden is famous as the garden of 6 seasons. One can capture the sceneries of six seasons in this garden with own eyes.
Unlike the Western system of four seasons, there are six seasons in one year into six distinct periods in Nepal , each lasting approximately two months:
- Vasanta (Spring): Mid-February to Mid-April.
- Grishma (Summer): Mid-April to Mid-June.
- Varsha (Monsoon/Rainy): Mid-June to Mid-August.
- Sharad (Early Autumn): Mid-August to Mid-October.
- Hemanta (Late Autumn/Pre-winter): Mid-October to Mid-December.
- Shishira (Winter): Mid-December to Mid-February.
The scene inside the garden would instantly fascinate anyone who goes there as to whether am I in the earthly world or the supernatural world. In 1920 AD, the late Field Marshal Keshar Samsher J.B.R.A. had built this garden with the influence of European (Edwardian) style by combining all six houses (rest houses) according to six seasons.
Famous architects like Kishor Narsingh and Kumar Narsingh Rana, who had built the structure of the Singh Durbar in 1907 AD, also designed and supervised the Dream Garden. The construction of garden includes houses, fountains, ponds, European-influenced verandas and even bird houses. On the one hand, the various houses inside the Dream Gardens present a unique architectural model . On the other hand, the combination of flowers, butanes and trees within the garden have given the astonishing beauty to the garden. After the death of Keshar Samsher, this garden was handed over to the Government of Nepal. But it could not be preserved according to its importance. Therefore, understanding the historical and classical importance of this garden, this dream garden was reconstructed with the help of various donors.
